“People of Earth…”

Craig Ferguson has used puppets on the Late Late Show for some time now.  For the past few weeks, the concept has evolved to a team of puppets performing musical numbers regularly as his cold open.

It started with a monkey monologue and has since evolved with costumes, yodeling, Elvis impersonations, and most recently, special effects.

I love how primitive yet entertaining these segments are.  The choice of puppets and song selections are brilliant.  It’s so rare to see such a thing on network television, when even our reality shows are scripted and scrubbed.

Here are a few of my favorites:

And lastly, here is an example from September 2008 of some of the early monologue versions:

Craig is the best. I would like to have the music and a copy of the show aired on July 8, 2009. What a wonderful tune. I’m a captain for a major airline, flying airbus 319-320-321, and would like to take Craig on a tour of our airline in PHX. Also i’ve kept my CFII current and would to talk aviation.
